Santa's helpers are needed

From The Reporter
It's beginning to sound a lot like Christmas. The holidays are fast approaching, and we at Community Housing Services also begin thinking about how we are going to continue to grant wishes for some of our needy families.
Over the years, CHS has been supported by local businesses, churches, public officials, civic organizations, schools, religious institutions and individuals. They have given monetary donations, food donations, brand new clothes, and toys.
A department from Merck gave a young woman a brand new refrigerator. This woman and her children did not have a refrigerator at all.
Further, an elderly woman received a full tank of oil to keep her warm through the winter.
During the holiday season, CHS staff and volunters are so blessed. We see parents humble themselves to see their children experience the goodness of people during this time, and we see the goodness and selflessness of donors as they pool their resources to make more than 400 families' holiday brighter.
CHS has had the pleasure of working closely with several area businesses: Verizon Communications, ECRI, Merck, numberous insurance and law firms, schools, Brownie troops, and individuals.
We are sad to say that with the retirement of one our key coordinators at Merck, Sharon Redding-Radtke, we could possibly lose one of the largest single donors our holiday sharing program has experienced.
Laurels to Sharon for coordinating the monstrous task of matching more than 100 employees with families from our agency, coercing the grounds crew to pick up and deliver them to us and not yelling at us for messing up a name of two.
We love you, Sharon, and thank you for all you have given to CHS.
To all those interested in participating in our holiday sharing program as a donor, please contact the office of Community Housing Services at (215) 362-5250.
